Gustav Fröléen

Hello, my name is Gustav Fröléen.

I was born in 1992 in Stockholm, Sweden and I have lived there ever since. My interest in fishing started when I was about eight years old. As usually it began with spinning and angling, but in time I came into fly fishing.

I have always been a creative person. I like doing things with my hands, building small detailed things up, why LEGO, origami and eventually fly tying was devoted a lot of my time off school. It once struck me that I had seen a magazine showing a review of different starting kits for fly tying, and I thought it might be worth trying. So I started doing some fly tying and it didn't take too long until I was digging deep into it. That's typical to me, whatever really interests me makes me spend a lot of time and effort on it.

Quite soon my father noticed my new hobby and thought it was a shame that those flies never came to use. Therefore he was kind enough to buy me my first flyrod and after that I was hooked. Never before had I felt such joy and excitement about fishing. My interest in fly fishing has also brought me many new friends which I spend a lot of my spare time with.

At first I was quite a loner at fishing, but as I discovered the fishingrelated forums on the internet my interest for fishing increased. I have also had the great advantage of living in a city with an outstanding fully fly fishing-related store in it, namely Stockholm's Flugfiskecenter, which expanded my fly fishing further.

I am also very interested in photography, classical music, nature science (biology and chemistry in particular) and just hanging around in nature, studying what's around me and breathing the lovely atmosphere. Without nature, I'm nothing. With nature, I'm still nothing because to me, nature is the most fantastic and beautiful of all things and fly fishing is a great way of enjoying it. That's why I am a fly fisherman.
